October Auction Blog

Over the last few months we’ve enjoyed many days of busy summer bidding — and although the weather is cooling slightly, our auctions certainly aren’t.

Our latest event, taking place on Wednesday 18th October, will feature over 50 exciting lots, including houses, commercial premises, and parcels of land, each unique and full of potential.

In this blog I want to take a closer look at some of the lots up for grabs next week, as well as sharing some exciting updates from the team here at Pugh.

Lot 1 - Former Probation Office, Queen Street, Grimsby, Lincolnshire, DN31 1QG

In Grimsby, we find a substantial former probation office building, consisting of a number of offices, workshops and public facing areas. The site comes with vacant possession and offers a great re-development opportunity subject to the usual consents. With a guide price of £300,000+ it has already attracted a great level of interest and we’re looking forward to seeing what it reaches on auction day.

Lot 13 - 34 High Matlock Road, Stannington, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, S6 6AT

Over in Sheffield, we have a typical ‘Homes Under the Hammer’ renovation project. It’s a traditional bay windowed semi-detached house occupying a large plot of 0.26 acres and offers excellent potential to refurbish and extend and is being offered at a guide price of £225,000 - £250,000.

Lot 34 - The Beeches, 19 Aigburth Hall Road, Liverpool, Merseyside, L19 9BN

Another interesting opportunity can be found in Liverpool. The Beeches is substantial semi detached grade II listed property on a site measuring approximately 0.54 Acres. It’s well positioned within a sought-after location and lends itself well to conversion into either a single residential dwelling or alternatively a handful of individual apartments (STP). With a guide price of £500,000+, we expect it be popular with both local developers and those looking for their own residential project.

Reflecting on the previous few weeks we’ve seen a notable increase in enquiries from sellers, all keen to secure a sale on their property. There is a noticeable shift in the market and an increased urgency from sellers who are attracted by the speed and security that an auction sale can deliver.

It is evident that there is growing demand from partner agents who wish to offer auction as an outlet to their clients – particularly in these more uncertain times. We have welcomed a number of new agents in recent weeks and we are seeing an increase in new instructions from our existing agents with whom we have enjoyed strong relationships with over many years. If you’re agent and are interested to know more about how we can build your own auction department get in touch.

Last month’s auction and the following post-auction sales also proved buyer demand is still high. We achieved some fantastic results for our clients and joint agents across the UK, achieving sales of over £7m. So, it’s safe to say our auctions continue to be a great success as our growing team work hard to meet the needs of both our dedicated buyers and motivated sellers.

If you’re interested in bidding in this month’s auction, you will need to register before midday on Monday 16th October. To find out how to register, just follow our easy 5 step guide here.
