Frodsham gastro pub and adjoining car park to be auctioned for redevelopment

Travellers Rest

The Travellers Rest pub on the outskirts of Frodsham, which closed last year and dates back to 1860, is to go up for auction later this month, with the venue’s car park listed separately in the upcoming sale.

The two lots will feature in the next online property auction to be held by Pugh, part of Eddisons, on 25 June with guide prices of £310,000 for the pub and beer garden and £100,000 for the 0.2 acre  plot of land that was previously the pub’s car park.

Auctioneers describe the former 3,000 sq ft Travellers Rest and adjoining land as redevelopment opportunities. Edward Feather, a director at Pugh, said: “The pub was a popular venue with both locals and tourists for many years and was well known for its beer garden and excellent food.

“Now though, as people’s leisure habits change, we believe it could be suitable for residential redevelopment, subject to a buyer gaining planning consent. As the car park is being offered separately for sale, that piece of land could also potentially be used as a site for new residential accommodation.

The former pub, which is detached and stands on a 0.3 acre site on the edge of Frodsham and in the affluent village of Kingsley has views over the Cheshire countryside.

“There are good facilities in Frodsham and the easy access to Manchester, Liverpool and Chester adds to the attraction of these two lots for a developer,” added Mr Feather.

This month’s Pugh auction, which includes the pub and car park in Frodsham, has new lots added daily and will be held on 25 June at www.pugh-auctions.com.
