Leeds Bradford Airport is located approximately 8 miles from the site. Sandside Close can be accessed from Rooley Lane via Parkway.

Description

The site, currently open grassland, is located to the east of Parkway. It is bounded to the south by residential properties fronting onto Highbridge Terrace, to the north and north east by properties fronting onto Sandside Close, to the south west by a larger extended copse of trees, and, to the west by residential properties fronting onto Parkway.

Planning

The site is considered to have development potential subject to the necessary consents. A planning application was submitted for a scheme detailing the construction of 45 houses and associated parking and landscaping (Application Number: 13/05023/MAO). Whilst the planning report recommended the scheme, the Planning Committee refused consent on the 20th February 2014 as the development of the site would result in the loss of land used for recreational purposes and as open space and would therefore be contrary to Policy OS3 of the Replacement Unitary Development Plan.
