A former doctors surgery, a redundant water pumping station, the site of a nurses home and a former school science block are set to go under the hammer at Pugh’s Yorkshire & North East Property Auction next week.
The site of the former Montagu Nurses Home in Mexborough has been put up for auction with a guide price of £225,000. From 1934 until 2011, the 0.75-acre site was the location of state-of-the-art, purpose-built accommodation for the nurses working at Montagu Hospital.
The building included 30 bedrooms as well as a recreation room, lecture room and modern kitchens.
A 365 sq ft single-storey doctors surgery in the former mining community of Highfields near Doncaster has also been put up for auction with a guide price of £10,000.
Other unique properties include Unity House, part of the former Hyde Park School on Doncaster’s Carr Lane. Originally the school’s science block, Unity House was converted into offices and a training centre in the 1990s and covers 5,000 sq ft of office space. The guide price is £95,000.
A redundant water pumping station near Dewsbury is also due to be included in the auction, with a guide price of £48,000.
The former Thornhill pumping station comes with a 0.13 acre site and lapsed planning consent for redevelopment as residential accommodation
Paul Thompson, managing director of Pugh auction house, said: “These are unique Yorkshire properties and sites and all of them in excellent locations. We are already seeing a great deal of interest from developers and investors in these and other community buildings that are due to go under the hammer in our next auctions.”
The auction will take place at Elland Road football ground in Leeds on 17 July, and at the AJ Bell Stadium in Manchester on 19 July.
