Farnworth former substation up for auction

A decommissioned electricity substation in Farnworth is up for auction with a guide price of £20,000.

The building will feature among more than 100 lots for sale at Pugh’s next North West property auction, at the AJ Bell Stadium in Manchester on 25 February.

The former substation, on Edith Street, has a floorspace of 3,400 sq ft site and a 5,000 sq ft gated yard outside.

Paul Thompson, managing director of Pugh auction house, said: “The substation is in a good location in a residential neighbourhood, and close to both Farnworth town centre and the M61 motorway.

“Subject to obtaining the necessary planning consent, the site represents a great opportunity to develop new residential accommodation in Farnworth.”
