The Vendor has obtained some initial advice from the Local Planning Office, who have stated "Policies B3 and B5 would be broadly supportive of residential conversion and policies D7 and D8 support the re-use of empty listed buildings as long as re-development does not result in the loss of architectural detailing or historic fabric. Any conversion scheme would need to consider the potential for overlooking to the properties to the rear on Trafalgar Court since the back to back distance is very modest as well as bin storage and car parking. Barrow Borough Council have not had the opportunity to inspect the interior of the property but any conversion scheme would need to seek to retain any important spaces or historic features, staircases, coving, decorative tiles and so on and avoid any new internal partitions resulting in drilling into historic plaster etc. The Statement of Significance at application stage would cover this. However, the floor plans suggest the interior could lend itself to conversion without the need for significant structural alterations.
